Stop the Hunger Games!

Stop watching the Hunger Games!

-Why?

Young tributes die in the arena for a game! The Hunger Games should entertain the people with a stupid idea! The tributes are chosen and have no chance to escape this event! All of the tributes are very young and have got familys who have to be scared that their children could die!

So how can you watch children diying? What would you say if your child will be chosen?Could you be calmly?

I SAY STOP! Stop watching tributes dying!Stop thinking that's entertainment!Stop watching the Hunger Games!

If nobody watches the Hunger Games, it could be stoped! It would be a stupid idea to do this event if nobody is watching it!So show the capitol that we have an election to live in a better world!Show the capitol who you are with your action!

My name is Katnis Everdeen and who are you?

HOW FAR AWAY IS OUR MEDIA WORLD FROM THE WORLD OF THE HUNGER GAMES?

We also have reality shows like in Panem. We show them because it´s dramatical, exciting , entertaining and maybe funny. But in our life the reality shows don´t show people fighting for her or his life! They show castings for talents like "Deutschland sucht den Superstar"  or  "Das Supertalent" and not people, who are dying in the arena. But in Panem this is absolutly normal to see people fighting in arenas and kill each other. The reality show "The Hunger Games" is one example for this statement. I think that our reality shows are totally different than the reality shows in Panem because in our reality shows people aren´t killing other people. They only make people ridiculous or show people with specially talents. But in Panem  they let humans fight in arenas  and let them kill eachother! This is inhumane and brutal, so I am totally against it.

This is to all the people living in the Capitol:

Do you know what it feels like to lose a beloved friend?
Can you imagine the pain you have to suffer from when you lose your own child, sister or brother?
What it is like to have to watch them fight for their life without being able to help them?

No?
Well, but we can. We- the people living in the districts – have to fear these feelings every year.

It is horrible enough to lose a friend but if you also have to watch him dying - that is even more dreadful.
We have to see how our family members turn into killers – how they kill and get killed.
Every year we will be reminded of their death and will never be able to let them go.

We cannot do anything against that.
But you can!
Unlike us you are not forced to watch the hunger games!
It is your own choice to watch the games and that is why you are one of the kids' murderers!

If you did not watch the games, they would not exist anymore.
If you helped us to protect the life of a little child, he might grow up and live a normal life.
If you raised your voice against President Snow, he would not be able to oppress us this way any longer.

Every little step can change something!

Therefore, I – the girl on fire – beg you:

Stop watching the huger games and start being good human!

The Hunger Games - A reality TV show?

We all know these speculiar TV shows called reality TV shows and, seriously, you'd never admit that you're
looking this stuff. But if wouldn't like The Hunger Games, you wouldn't stay here on this
blog. So, what do you think? Can you compare The Hunger Games themselves to a modern
reality TV show? Think about shows like "Big Brother" or  "Supertalent". I think, there are a lot
of parallels in it. I mean, the only thing that is different is the fact that the Hunger Games are
based on human lives and if you are in it, you have to win or die and our reality TV shows can
be joined voluntarily.

What do you think about that? I'm interested in your ideas and opinions.
I would be happy if you'd leave a comment.

How far away is our media world from the world of the Hunger Games?

The Games were made to entertain the people, just like our reality TV shows. I know, the first thing you might think now is: "I´ve never watched stupid things like that!", but if you´re honest to yourself, the most of you will realize that that isn´t true. Things like the jungle camp or casting shows like the X factor are as normal to us as the news and nobody would ever think about comparing those shows with the Hunger Games. But isn´t it in some case the same? I mean, the jungle camp for example is also a 24/7 live broadcast, and people get forced to do something they don´t want to do, they get money when they win and it´s a very successful TV format. So why does everybody think it is so unpossible that something like this could happen in our world?? It did before, with the gladiators, and who can say that there won´t be a increase and things like the jungle camp wll be boring someday?? Of course, I don´t really think that this will happen in countries like Germany or the USA, but in countries were people have to suffer from hunger and don´t know how to stay alive....Who knows what will happen??

I´m curious to hear your opinion about that!
Looking forward to hearing from you, CD.

Help us!

People in the Capitol,

You must change something!

I know for you the Hunger Games is just a nice way to be entertained and you don't think about what happens, but you must have in mind that we are humans too. We die for your entertainment! And what you even do not notice is that this bloody game is just for putting us under control. How would you feel if you or your children must go into the arena. You would think that it's horrible! So change something. Don't let Snow do whatever he wants. Change the rules, show that you're not just silly rich people, show that you have a heart and that you don't agree with the dead of the tributes

HELP US!

Katniss, The girl on fire.

THE POWER OF THE MEDIA

Let’s face it. Aren’t we all a little bit pleasure-seaking? It satisfies us however other people are being exposed or expose theirselves, how they live their lives. We want to know how they handle sometimes ridiculous, sometimes serious issues. What do they do in their free time, what jobs do they have and how’s their family situation? Are they single, divorced, famous, beautiful, ugly, happy? We want to know everything about anyboy.
In reality shows we bet on people to win, we vote for them according to how far they go, how much they can stand no matter how absurd, risible, stupid or unscalable the task they have to manage is.

So how far away is our media world from the one in the Hunger Games? What differs us from the audience and the people there?

To answer this questions, I would like to compare the “Hunger Games” with “I’m a celeb, get me out of here!”.

  1. The tributes/candidates

Junglecamp

  • 10 candidates
  • celebrities who volunteer for the show (can give up at all times by saying "I'm a celeb, get me out of here")
  • 18+

Hunger Games

  • 24 tributes
  • unvoluntarily chosen (volunteering possible)
  • some trained their whole lifes for this challenge (secretly), some thrown into the arena completely unprepared
  • aged between 12-18

  1. The challenge

Junglecamp

  • collect stars to get food and luxury goods
  • convince the audience to vote for your win by managing disgusting and dangerous tasks

Hunger Games

  • convince the sponsors to get you necessary goods like medicine, food, water etc.
  • kill your opponents to be the last standing tribute for winning the Games

  1. The prize

Junglecamp

  • people get payed for their participation
  • they get a bonus if they win
  • (extra) publicity

Hunger Games

  • improvement of their living conditions
  • money, fame, honor
  • no more worries

  1. The intention of the show

Junglecamp

  • entertainment
  • amusement
Hunger Games

  • reminder of the Capitols power
  • keep the people in the Capitol satisfied by entertaining them
  • keep the district people under control (they can’t do anything against the governments decisions)
  • punish the residents for their uprisings (things that happended long before they were even born)

  1. The price

Junglecamp

  • loss of privacy
  • reputation (because the show is intellectually undemanding)
  • dignity

Hunger Games

  • psychic trauma
  • emotional distress
  • life

If you read the above comparisons you become aware of how much we have in common with the people in Panem. We accept the violation of other peoples minds and lives just to be entertained. We make them do things they don’t want to do.

“We are different: We don’t force people to kill each other! People volunteer for going to the junglecamp to earn money and publicity!”

So don’t some of the kids volunteer? They sign up for tesserae to facilitate their families a better life, accepting that their names will be in the reapingbox more often and the chance of being chosen increases. They try to win in the arena to make a better life for their loved ones possible. It’s their intention to improve the image of their family in their district and whole Panem, not mainly but in some kind. Like the people in the junglecamp they wanna earn something, not lose.
The biggest differences between the two shows are that the candidates in the camp are adults. who are there by choice, not kids, who are chosen without their acceptance, like the tributes in the Hunger Games.
But how long does it take until the attraction of todays tv shows dwindles away, until someone comes up with the idea to force people to do things like this in punishment? For example, that criminals have to fight against each other until death and the winner regains his freedom and independence. Just for entertainment. Live. 24 hours, 7 days a week. Will we watch?

How far will people go to be entertained, to forget their own problems, to flee from reality?
Will they be able to distinguish reality from the illusory world anymore?
And who will be untroubled by this shows, no matter whether as spectator or candidate?

We will know soon.

Let me know what you think about this comparison and how far people will go,

Stop watching the Hunger Games!

Do you think it is funny to watch us dying in the arena?
Don't you feel bad if you see bodys covered in blood on the screen?
Do you think it is good entertainment to see other people dying of hunger?
How do feel, knowing you support all these things by watching them?
STOP IT!
Or don't you feel resposible for all these things happening?
Maybe it's only entertainment for you, but we loose our friends!
Families get split up!
Can't you imagine how we feel by doing all these things just for "fun"?
So please:
Show Mr. Snow that we aren't just dolls!
Don't just look!
Raise your voice!
Everyone counts!
CHANGE SOMETHING!Thank you for reading,

From gladiators through reality TV to the Hunger Games - old ideas dressed in new clothes?

If you compare the Gladiator Games with the Hunger Games you will find many similarities .
Firstly there is the idea that only one person can survive and that the victor gets a lot of money. Both take place in an arena and the tributes and gladiators are chosen involuntarily. They have to fight with wild animals like lions or muttations and all the weapons, for example spears or swords, can be found in the arena. The aim of both is to entertain the people by watching other people kill each other.
So the whole idea of the Hunger Games is the same as the Gladiator Games but dressed in new clothes.
In our reality TV shows you can also find some similarities with the Gladiator Games. There is just one victor who gets a lot of money and glory. All these shows are just for entertaining the audience and sometimes they are only interested in it when they see people suffer.
To sum up, I would say that in every age there is the same basic idea of how to entertain the audience and sometimes these ideas are not very human.

Why are you watching the HUNGER GAMES?

You watching the Hunger Games because it`s funny and amazing when children fight about their life?
No, that isn`t funny!!
When one of your children fight in the arena about their life, maybe you can understand us in the Districts to begin a rebellion. But do you think about that? No, I think so. Because when you thought about that, you understand more and  don`t watching the Hunger Games!
Demonstrate against the savage games!
Don`t look only!
Do something against it!
Begin and many people will follow you!
You can change the government!

Yours Katniss

From gladiators through reality TV to "The Hunger Games" - old ideas in new clothes?

What would you say at first? "We are better than the people from the Capitol, because we don't force people to kill each other“?

Well, then I would advise you to read this post.

Starting with the Gladiators I’d like to mention that in the time of the Old Rom people hadn’t had much tasks to do. Beside political issues and historical writing there was nothing else to do for the citizens. Also just a small part of the population was able to read and write and political issues weren’t all the time.
So they had to get a different task to do. Therefore they trained prisoners of war to gladiators. These gladiators fought in arenas against each other until one died.
They were actually very public, even the best just survived maximal three years. Anyway these guys grained much reward and earned a lot of money.

Here you can see a connection to the Hunger Games. In the book are also fighters, with are in an arena and have to kill each other until just one survived.
So the past and the future is very violent and bloody.
And today? Do you think today we aren’t violent? Well, let’s see!

Fist I want to repeat the facts that makes the Hunger Games:
  • people are poor and don’t have much entertainment
  • 24 kids have to be tributes (there can be volunteers, but this actually doesn’t do anyone)
  • they fight in an arena against each other until just one is left
  • the winner gets rewards, like money and food and is very public

In these four points you can see that there weren’t much difference between gladiators and the Hunger Games.

Today we have many ways to get entertained. The internet, cinemas or theme parks are examples for our big number of entertainment possibilities.
But even so we have reality TV and I would say this is just trimmed version of the past and the future.
Although in our real TV shows none of the people kill each other it is very bad. They maybe don’t lose their life, but they lose something else which is very important: their image and even worse their dignity! Just like the “Jungle Camp”. There some celebtrties (that aren’t popular and famous anymore) go into a jungle camp and have to do special tasks, for example eat very disgusting things (I don’t want to go amplify on this).
The only difference between our TV shows and the gladiators and the Hunger Games is, that in our world the people do these things more or less voluntarily. But even here the money plays a big role. None of the b-celebrities would go to the jungle camp if they hadn’t had money problems and needed the reward.

So what do you think?

Are we so much different from the Hunger Games and the Gladiators?

Do we treat our people much better than the Capitol does?

Think about this!

Old ideas dressed in new clothes?

All of us know the roman gladiator games, which are famous for danger and a bloody, unfair death.
These gladiator- fights are very horrible thinks and no one can realy think of that and their feelings. But we all know how  people behave on reality TV, because they tell and show us many things about themselves or their feelings, even if we are not realy interested in that.
But is there a link between reality TV, gladiator games and The Hunger Games? Are these things only old ideas dressed in new clothes ?

In my opinion YES, not at all but a bit. Especially the gladiators can be compaired with the tributes.
Booth of them are choosen and are not in the games becaue they want to, which is because of an unfair power system.
Even if the hunger games play in the future, there are as old weapons as in the middleage, like spears and swords.
An other equal aspect is that only one "player" can survive, which also can be a littlebit compaired with  reality TV shows, which only have one winner.
But the main fact is that all of them are to entertain other people.
People who dont care about the ones, they follow on live TV. Still people, who watch reality TV can not at all be copaired with those, who like games, wich kill people.

Entertainment based on watching children suffer

To all the people from the Capitol out there:

Do you really think it is fair to oppress the poor, deprive them of essential rights, make them live with horrible living conditiones, enforce their children to fight against each other and particularly enforce them to kill other kids?!
I can't imagine what's going on in the Gamemakers' heads.
How can they be happy while exerting power over people in such a cruel way?
Their sense of entertainment is built upon the fears of kids which were stolen from their families and have to fight for their lives now.
I know the audience wants to see drama and expects a good show. You love to delight in other people's sorrow. Do you?
You are pretty thrilled when a little weak girl can't defend herself and has to die painfully alone in the woods, far away from her mother. Am I right?
I want you to ask yourself if you really think this is human? Does this really agree with you spirit and your morality?
I know  the government has a cruel and hierarchical system, but don't you mind that you are ruled over by an all powerful leader probably the rest of your lives? Don't you want to be free?
Of course I know about your wealth and that you don't have to hunt for your food or something like that. Your lives are easy and full of problems which deals with questions like: "Shall I eat caviar or lobster today?", "What shall I wear tomorrow?" or "Shall I sponsor one of the kids in the Hunger Games to watch he or she one day more fighting for life, suffering or finally dying of starvation? I think it would be very amusing :)"
Only the imagination of the audiences' thoughts or rather your thoughts makes me angry as well as sad.
Above I wrote I know how good your lives are, inspite of the hierarchical system. But think about never being completely free in your whole life. There's always someone who has the control over you. You are only a marionette of the government. They influences and enforces you to be unjust, cruel and inhuman.
Do you really want that? I don't think so.
It is not possible to overlook the big inequality between the people in Panem and also between the people in the Hunger Games!
So why you are so spineless out there and why you aren't willed to help us and especially the kids who lose their dignity and finally their lives in the games?
If you think you aren't such a vulgar person who wants to get entertained by watching such a cruel competition, you should do something against it! NOW!
Or do you want even more innocent children who get killed without a convincing reason?
I need your help to draw everybody's attention to the injustice and cruelity of the Hunger Games.
Instead of supporting the show by watching it, help to boycott it!
Do good and make a difference!
Especially out of love to children.

Yours faithfully,
Katniss Everdeen, The Girl on Fire

You are the murderer!!!

This is for the audience, for all the people who watch the Hunger Games regularly and are really excited about it:

In the Hunger Games people die. Our children die and we can do nothing against it.

Do you want your children in the Games?
Do you want to watch them dying?
And even bet about their lifes?

Because this is exactly what you are doing during the Games. You cheer for little boys and girls to kill each other. You bet about whose life will be the longest. You want to be entertained, you want to have emotions, drama and brutal kills. You talk about it, you laugh about it, you addict it. It has to be more exciting, more special, more terrible so that you have something you really enjoy.
Therefore little children die. You want them to die. You are the murderer of all the tributes.
If you don't watch the Games, there won't be Games anymore.
If you raise your voice against it our children could live.
It's your fault, and your duty to change it!
Come on, get involved!
And save the lifes of so many innocent people. Save us, save the humanity, save the dignity of all us human beings.
It's your chance and your duty to destroy this unhuman cruelty!!!

Save the world!!!

May the stupid odds be ever in your favour,

Katniss Everdeen
From gladiators through reality TV to the Hunger Games- old ideas in new clothes ???

Yes, I think it is true. In both games, people have to fight for their life and they aren't there, because they want to be there. The show entertains people and it is a great evening program for them.
These fighters, the gladiators and the tributes, haven't any power or regard in the society and both are nearly
treated like animals. The people with more power (the gamemakers) do what they want to do with them and this is very sad.  The games aren't also very fair, because the gladiators have to fight against animals, for example lions, with much more strength. All the tributes also haven't the same power, there is for example the small and weak Rue and the strong and big Cato, with much more experiences. It think it is sure who would survive if they would meet in the woods. The people, a few thousands years ago and the people a few years in the future from now fight both for money, glory and a better life.
To sum up, I think the Hunger Games are nearly the same, only in the future and with  more technology.

I am interested in what you think about this and I hope that you agree with me.
AB :-)
