5 Objects of "The Hunger Games"
These are in opinion the five most important objects that represent "The Hunger Games":
- The first objects that are a symbol for the book "The Hunger Games" are in my opinion the hunger games themselves. They do not only play a very big role in the book but explain also the history background of Panem. Panem consisted of 13 Districts earlier but the Capitol destroyed District 13 because there was a rebellion. To remind the whole country that it is the Capitol having the power over them they invented the hunger games. Being even the title of the novel they are very important.
- Another object is the mockingjay or Katniss' mockingjay pin. It was a gift from the mayor's daughter and Katniss' friend Madge andcauses the friendship between Rue and Katniss. Rue used to sing with them and the pin is why she trusts Katniss. It also denotes rebellion.
- Besides, also the bread is an important object in "The Hunger Games" because Katniss got a bread from Peeta when they were kids and her family was starving. Therefore, the bread is a sign of a part of their relationship and reminds her always how Peeta saved her life. But it symbolizes also the friendship between Katniss and Distrect 11 because they sent her a bread in the arena after Rue's death.
- Additionally, I think Katniss' bow and arrows are items representing "The Hunger Games",too. They symbolize her strength and can make you think about Gale because he was always hunting with Katniss back in District 12. Her bow and her arrows give her hope and remind her who she really is and where she comes from.
- And last but not least I think also the fire plays a big role in "The Hunger Games". Thanks to Cinna and his amazing costumes Katniss is well known as "the girl on fire" in the whole country. Thus she gets many sponsors, seems to be an powerful girl and stands for change. But the fire has also it's negative aspects because the game makers were using her reputation against her by throwing fire balls at her in the arena. They use to show their authority and how they can easily disturb the tributes - or the districts.
