Five important objects in "The Hunger Games"

Five important objects in "The Hunger Games"

  • First I would choose the mockingjay given by a girl from Katniss' district because it reminds her of her home. It gives her willpower, which is so important for the games, and also hope to come back to her family. In addition, I think the mockingjay is a symbol for opposition against the regime because it is not a bird made by the Gamemakers but a crossbred bird. This is one object in the Game over which the Gamesmakers lost the power. Therefore maybe the mockingjay is also a kind of role model for Katniss.

  • Secondly, the hunger is apparently a fundamental objekt in the Games. Because of hunger the tributes have to kill the others that the game is over and they can go back home. I also think the hunger changes the mind of people in a way. It forces them to get wild and to act thoughtless.
The main point is that without hunger, the Hunger Games can't exist.

  • Third, I think the entertainment plays a big role for the games. The whole thing is only a show to entertain people. Only for entertaining the young people have to fight against each other, get hurt and finally die. The rich humans debase the poor ones to be amused.

  • Then, I would choose the bread as one of the five objects. On the one hand it simply helps to defeat the hunger and on the other hand it's a symbol of the friendship between Katniss and Peeta as well as of the friendship between Katniss and district 11 which send her a loaf of bread after Rues death.
Additionally, I think friendship is a very important part to survive in the games.

  • The final object I want to mention is the fire. It can be a big help to stay alive but in the same way it can be a death sentence. If one tribute makes a fire in the woods the others will see the cloud of smoke or in the night they will see probably the light. Consequently, the others will immediately follow the sign to kill the tribute with the fire.
