My own experiences with "The Hunger Games"
- How did I like reading such a long novel in English?
I was really obsessed with The Hunger Games, and I think it is very well written and easy to read. The longer you read the more you get addicted and honestly I couldn´t stop reading. The story is amazing and after a while you really start feeling with the characters and getting the impression that you are a part of Panem.
- How did it make me feel after I had finished? In what way did I succeed? Which strategies did I use and would recommend to others?
After I had finished I really wanted to know more about Katniss, Peeta and how the story continues. The story is so exciting that I needed to read the next part of trilogy.
By the time the pages passed it was getting more and more easy to understand the book and tap the meaning of most of the words I didn´t know.
I would recommend to read bigger parts and not only one or two pages per day because I think you can´t get into the story otherwise.
- What did I particularly like/dislike about the novel?
My favourite part in the book is the second, the games. It is very exciting and the description of the arena and Katniss´ feelings is impressive. Although I can´t say that there is anything in the book that I disliked, I´m a bit disappointed that there wasn´t anything more between Katniss and Gale. And I would have liked to find out more about the other tributes.
- What did I find the most interesting? What would I like to talk about in class?
A really interesting thing about the book is Katniss´ development. When you read the book you feel yourself so near to her that you feel with her and it is like you see someone you like growing up. I think another good topic to talk about would be the relationship between her and Haymitch because I think he cares very much about her even if she doesn´t perceive it.
- What did me make think most?
I think there is more vulnerability behind Katniss´ strong personality. I very often thought about how I would react in her situation and if I also volunteered if someone I love would be chosen.
